Let’s face it. Your checking account is the center of your banking experience. One of the standard options you have with all of our checking accounts is an Instant Issue Debit Card. According to a recent Consumer Reports survey, close to one-fifth of consumers with checking accounts considered switching to a new financial institution in the last year. But many who want to switch, don’t – simply because transferring accounts seems too much of a hassle.
Consumers believes making your transition smooth is part of our job. We want to make the process pain free. Here’s your step by step guide to a smooth transition.
1. Open your new accounts before closing the old ones.
You’ll want to leave enough money in the old accounts to cover any purchases or payments still clearing through your former bank – and enough to avoid charges should your balance drop below the minimum before you close out the accounts.
Fortunately, our Seriously Free Checking accounts have no minimum balance to worry about. And since we make our debit cards right in the office, you’ll be set up to use your new accounts immediately – no waiting for cards to show up in the mail!
2. Change your direct deposit.
Give your employer the updated account information we’ll provide you. It’s that simple!
3. Update your billing information.
Paying bills is never fun, and if you had them all automated at your old bank, you’re probably hesitant to change your existing system. But don’t worry – we’ll walk you through the whole process.
Bring us your billing statements, and we’ll show you how to set up everything just the way you want it on our online Bill Pay.
4. Transfer any remaining funds and close the old account! You’re done!
