Consumers Credit Union has participated in Relay for Life events for many years. We are once again a proud sponsor of this year’s event in Kalamazoo, where a team of over 60 employees will take to the track for 24 hours in the fight against this deadly disease.
Relay for Life celebrates the lives of those who have battled cancer themselves, recognizes the caregivers who have supported their loved ones in the fight, and remembers friends and family members who have passed on. The event benefits the American Cancer Society.
For many Relay for Life participants, the fight against cancer is personal. Glenna Kane and Jill Fricke co-chair the Consumers team. Glenna began taking part in Relay to fulfill a promise she made to her dad, who passed away of cancer in 2006. She says, “Since then, together with Consumers Credit Union employees and members, we have raised nearly $100,000 to battle cancer.”
The Kalamazoo County Relay for Life will take place May 31 – June 1 at Portage Central High School. Other local Relay events include:
Holland-Zeeland: June 13-14, Holland Christian High School
Van Buren East: June 21-22, Paw Paw Middle School
Branch County: June 28-29, Branch County Fairgrounds
