Fraud happens! Consumers receives phone calls and office visits every day from people just like you who have found fraudulent purchases in their accounts. Fortunately, there are ways to protect yourself and minimize your risk for exposure.
- Don’t give out your Online Banking information to anyone. We will never ask you for your password.
- Don’t click on any links in emails that say they will need your personal information.Instead, enter the web address for the merchant or financial institution directly into your browser.
- Don’t give out your debit card PIN to anyone. If you give out your debit card PIN and a fraudulent purchase is made, you may not be able to recover your money.
- Review your account activity weekly to verify your purchases. Keep in mind that some vendors may have a different name in your transaction history than their business name.
- Don’t give out your personal information to people who call and request it. If a caller says they’re from a business and need to verify your information, tell them you’ll call them back. Hang up, find the business’ phone number online and call that number.
Despite your best efforts, there will probably come a day when an account number is compromised and a fraudulent purchase is made. Don’t panic! Contact us or stop in an office and we’ll help you get everything sorted out. If the purchase is truly fraudulent, you will be refunded the money with our Zero Liability protection through Mastercard®.
