As CFO at Consumers, Steve has developed and enhanced many processes that have created efficiencies and provided management with enhanced levels of data to support decision-making and clarify trends. His leadership has been particularly instrumental to the record levels of employee engagement Consumers has seen over the past two years.
When we consider the record levels of loans, deposits, earnings, and, most importantly, member satisfaction Consumers experienced in 2012, our great employee engagement is not surprising. Without engaged employees and strong leaders like Steve, we would not have seen such success.
Steve serves on a leadership team that develops specific action plans from our annual employee survey to continually improve our work environment for staff. Steve does not only create these plans; he plays a role in implementing them and ensuring that each employee feels connected to our organizational strategies and goals. In 2011, Steve visited all thirteen offices to hold staff level discussions about our financial results and explain how each individual impacts our success. In 2012, he participated in a mentoring program to provide guidance to management level employees seeking to grow to the next level. With Steve, the lines of communication are always open.
Steve’s leadership makes clear that when we focus on developing our employees and making sure that they feel valued within the organization, we improve our ability to serve our membership and grow the credit union.
