Relay for Life: Let’s Put Cancer on Vacation

Relay 1

Wendy Marshall, Employee Relations Specialist, takes to the track during the 2012 Relay for Life

Consumers Credit Union has participated in Relay for Life events for many years. We are once again a proud sponsor of this year’s event in Kalamazoo, where a team of 50 employees will take to the track for 24 hours in the fight against this deadly disease. This year’s theme is “Destinations: Let’s Put Cancer on Vacation!”

Glenna Kane, Senior MSR at our Stadium Office, serves as the Kalamazoo County Relay for Life Event Chair. Her participation with Relay began in 2006 when she lost her dad to cancer after a short 6-month fight. She says, “I promised him that I would continue the fight so I wouldn’t have to lose any more loved ones to this disease. Together with Consumers Credit Union employees and members, we have raised over $81,500 to battle cancer since I made that promise.”

Relay for Life benefits the American Cancer Society, the nationwide community–based voluntary health organization dedicated to saving lives by eliminating cancer through research, education, advocacy, and service.
