Consumers is pleased to once again partner with Communities in Schools Kalamazoo to provide after-school financial education to local middle and high school students. Over the past year, we have conducted two six-week sessions with 25 students. Our next session begins this month.
Downtown Office Manager Clarence Lloyd says, “This particular partnership allows us to provide a basic financial foundation to students who may not have any exposure to sound money management. These classes can change the course of a family’s financial future when the students take that info back to their homes.”
Topics covered include the why and how of making a budget, the importance of your credit score, and how good grades now can translate into dollars in your future. The program is designed to grow to include four sessions per school year, one per grade at the high school level.
