Consumers Credit Union is proud to once again receive the honor of being named one of “Michigan’s Best and Brightest in WellnessTM” by the Michigan Business and Professional Association (MBPA). This award celebrates organizations that are making their workplaces, their employees, and their communities healthier places to live and work.

Winners were evaluated with the WellCompanies assessment, created and administered by Wellco. This year’s winners represent many industries, including automotive, insurance, hospitality, communications, and nonprofits. All will be honored on Thursday, October 3 at a breakfast celebration and symposium at the VisTaTech Conference Center in Livonia.

“Having a healthy and happy workforce leads to a healthy company bottom line. This year’s winning companies represent high standards and an exceptional commitment to healthy employees, healthy families, and a healthy community,” says Jennifer Kluge, MBPA president.

Shawn Premer, Vice President of Human Resources at Consumers Credit Union, shares, “Wellness isn’t just about eating right and exercising to lose weight. Wellness is about being balanced and making good decisions for long-term wellbeing. Our wellness program, which we introduced in 2012, helps employees take a holistic approach to their total wellbeing. At Consumers, wellness isn’t just an initiative. It is part of our culture.”

Consumers Credit Union’s wellness program includes subsidized gym memberships for employees, a supply of fruit and healthy snacks in break rooms, outstanding health insurance, and private sessions with wellness coaches for all employees, in addition to incentives for establishing healthy habits.
