The Consumers Cash Car got such rave reviews last year that we’re bringing it back for more summer fun! The Cash Car will hit the road this weekend on to make its first appearance of the season at the LAUP Fiesta in Holland on Saturday, May 4. Join us outside the Civic Center downtown from 10 am to 3 pm (or until the cash runs out) for your chance to win up to $50. We’ll be sticking around through Tulip Time to continue the fun at the Riley office on Saturday, May 11 from 10:30 am until noon. At 2:00 pm the Cash Car will join our Holland team in the Tulip Time parade. And in celebration of the Cash Car’s return, we’re announcing last year’s Cash Car iPad winner, Steve W. of Mattawan! Yesterday’s terrible tragedy at the Boston Marathon shook the running community throughout the world. What should have been a life-affirming, celebratory event ended in confusion, sadness, and anger. But in the aftermath of yesterday’s explosions, many acts of kindness have taken place. Runners finished the race and continued running to area hospitals to donate blood. Bostonians offered stranded runners and their families a place to stay. Restaurants provided runners and locals with free food. In a spirit of solidarity, attendees at this Saturday’s Consumers Sunburst Run will observe a moment of silence for those affected by the Boston Marathon attack. A portion of the race’s proceeds will also be donated to support the victims. The 4th Annual Consumers Sunburst Run takes place Saturday, April 20, 2013. Consumers Credit Union has supported the Walk MS event for many years because we want to help the National MS Society fund research, advocate for change, and assist people with multiple sclerosis, a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system. The funds raised in the event give hope to the more than 19,000 people living with MS in our community. This year’s Walk MS will be held May 4 with the opening ceremony beginning at 9:45 am at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. 2013 marks Consumers’ fifth year as the site sponsor of the Kalamazoo event. Each year Consumers Credit Union provides support to members who are furthering their education, because we believe in contributing to the well-being of our membership. In 2013, Consumers will be awarding $500 and an iPad to 20 scholarship winners who are Consumers members and graduating high school seniors. The deadline to apply is fast approaching.
