Our doors were closed on President’s Day, but our staff was active behind the scenes, participating in learning and leadership opportunities at this year’s Professional Development Day. Kit Snyder, President and CEO, says, “Each year, we enjoy this time to connect with our teammates and grow our knowledge. We do this because Consumers believes that our people are our greatest asset. Each employee is a leader, and the decisions they make every day touch thousands of members’ lives.” Each of our team members is an expert in their role, and on Professional Development Day, we get to learn from many of them. Renovations Also Planned for South Haven Office Consumers Credit Union is pleased to announce the building of two new locations in Grand Rapids in 2014. The new locations will be in Gaines Township (1673 68th St. SE, Caledonia, MI 49316) and Cascade (5597 28th St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49512). Construction will begin this spring with both offices slated to open this fall. They will feature approximately 3,200 square feet with the latest in banking technology including touch screen access to financial education and an online and mobile banking center for account access and demos. The new offices will also feature a full service lobby with a free coffee bar, children’s play area, and free wireless Internet access, along with a loan and member service area, drive thru lanes, and outdoor ATM. Consumers Credit Union’s Dollars for Scholars Scholarship Program has been helping student members achieve their dreams of attending college for over 20 years. More than 70 scholarships have been awarded since the program’s inception. DyLan R. was a senior in high school when he received a Dollars for Scholars scholarship. He graduated from Western Michigan University this past winter. DyLan tells us, “The scholarship came at a time when we didn’t exactly have money to send me off to college, because my dad had suffered a heart attack. It really helped with making sure that I could afford school.” With the costs of higher education increasing every year, every bit of financial support helps. Consumers Credit Union is a proud sponsor of Go Red for Women, the American Heart Association’s national movement to end heart disease in women. While many consider heart disease to primarily affect men, the statistics are equally daunting for women. Currently, 43 million American women are living with cardiovascular disease. We will be attending the luncheon on February 7 at the Radisson in Downtown Kalamazoo.
